Latvian born, DJ Ella is a force to be reckoned with, as a new generation of house stars are hitting the scene.
Ella’s career started at age 14, when she got to the finals of the international young performers competition “Fizz Superstar” where she was the youngest entrant to perform. Noticed first by legendary UK producer and manager Mel Bush (Vanessa Mae, David Essex, Wild and many more), he offered her a career in the UK in the midst of the wildly successful band Bond’s fame. But as Ella was just 14 years old and a young lady, she rejected his offer to join Bond producer in order to try and make it on her own.
At 16, Ella wrote and recorded her first song, and subsequently got signed to Mikrophona Records. In 2006, her debut single “To Reach Your Dream” was released to varying success. It was at this time DJ Ella began honing her craft as a DJ.
In 2008, DJ Ella released “Welcome To The Club” featuring Canada’s renowned DJ Ricky J, marking her first international success. From this album singles were released across European labels, such as Virgin France, Deutsche Dance Records (Germany), ToCo International, TMC Nordic, Typhoon Records (Asia) as well as Positiva Records UK. The album won a Latvian Music Award in the category of “Best Dance Album Of The Year”. Her hit single “DJ Take Me” was the first Latvian song to ever reach the French Club Chart Top 40. In September 2009 her single “Shine Like A Superstar” made her the first Latvian artist to ever release on legendary UK Dance label Positiva Records and on Next Plateau Entertainment in the U.S. She was also nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award as one of the “Best Baltic Acts”.
